Brian Manjarres MD - (Namaste Medical Group)

Dr. Manjarres is the founder and Medical Director of Namaste Medical Group headquartered in San Diego, CA and has nearly 15 years of experience as a physician specializing in internal, integrative, and holistic medicine.  His path through medicine has taken him from the ICU in San Francisco, California to the jungles of the Amazon in Peru where he started a free clinic and worked with Shipabo shaman.  He cofounded, Just Be You, an innovative program to help youth with mental illness using a mind / body / spirit approach.  His passion is helping people heal themselves by breaking cycles of trauma through productive expression.

Poonacha Machaiah - (Way of Wellbeing / Warrior Monk)

Poonacha Machaiah will talk about the WAY OF WELLBEING series he has launched at the Fairmont Grand and Warrior Monk.  He will also talk about his dream of making chronic illness optional in our lifetime.

Poonacha Machaiah is a global leader among a new breed of social entrepreneurs who is applying his corporate expertise from 25 years as a business leader in Fortune 100 companies as well as his background in advanced technological strategies to tackling social and environmental problems. Machaiah has collaborated extensively with Deepak Chopra, M.D., world-renowned mind-body medicine pioneer and New York Times best-selling author, in their shared mission of “personal transformation and societal wellbeing.” Together they have designed and overseen the launch of wellbeing programs in corporations and communities around the world.

Joe Tafur

Dr. Tafur has been an Integrative Medicine activist throughout his medical career, while in medical school at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, and during his Family Medicine Residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has collaborated on research projects with the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine and the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine.  After residency, Dr. Tafur subsequently completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the UCSD Department of Psychiatry under psychoneuroimmunology expert Dr. Paul Mills. While in San Diego, he also served on the board for the Alternative Healing Network and on the Steering Committee for the UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Tafur is also dedicated to education. At Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual, Dr. Tafur supervised traditional education for allopathic medical students and for medical student groups from the Southwestern College of Naturopathic Medicine and Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine. He has also worked as a professor for the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine’s online doctoral program. He is now developing new educational programs for Modern Spirit.

Alvaro Santamaria

Alvaro Santamaria is a surrealist, sculptor, master ceramist, native American stile flute player and a visionary artist born in Colombia who has resided in the United States since 1992. His visionary work is intimately related to his enthogenic visions obtain through his search and exploration of the shamanic tradition of the Americas. He himself is a red road walker and a spiritual psychonaut of the invisible landscapes of the latice mind and infinite universal consciousness. Alvaro's mission in life is to embrace and share the gifts and healing obtained through his personal quest using his art and music as a beacon of light and communication between him and humanity.
